Pittsburgh has several well known sports teams and the residency program provides free tickets for Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins games that are raffled throughout the year. We love spending a night off supporting our local teams and enjoying the beautiful view from PNC park with our co-residents. We also participate in our own sports!
Pittsburgh has many amazing breweries for residents to explore! An added perk is getting a Pittsburgh Brewery Guide to collect stamps as you make your way through the city breweries. A residency favorite is Trace Brewery, which is close to the hospital and has buy one get one free drinks on Tuesdays with your badge!
Whether it is a wedding, a baby, or pets, celebrating with our co-residents is the easiest thing to do. Insider info: one of our residents signed her marriage license in the CHP Healing Garden right before her night shift!
A unique part of our program is that interns get one week off all together at the end of intern year before transitioning into second year. In the past, interns have taken this time off to travel together, spend time with family, relax, and even hike Mount Kilimanjaro!
Picklesburgh is an annual pickle themed festival that resident's love to explore and have pickle beer, pickle lemonade, fried pickles, pickles on a stick, and all things dill-icious!
Pittsburgh is home to an amazing variety of top restaurants, ice cream shops, and all things edible. With the low cost of living in Pittsburgh, residents are able to eat very well! Plus, brunch after finishing nights is a time-honored tradition.
Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania are home to amazing access to the outdoors, with massive rivers blocks from the hospital, large city parks around the corner, state parks such as Ohiopyle, all within an hour drive. There are opportunities to walk, run, hike, cycle, cross-country and downhill ski all within the surrounding areas that residents love to explore!
