2 blocks of this are “Yellow team” which is a PHM team consisting of two 3rd year residents working directly with an attending. You get a lot of autonomy and get to flex the skills you’ve learned on PHM over the course of your first two years.

X+Y blocks = a combination of inpatient and elective time totaling 4 weeks. For example:

2 weeks of PHM + 2 weeks of a different PHM team
2 weeks of inpatient team + 2 weeks of elective
4 weeks of NICU/PICU
Z block = 2 weeks outpatient rotation (continuity clinic, longitudinal elective, community engagement, etc). While on Z block you have 2 guaranteed golden weekends!
PGY 1
No 24 hour shifts
Weekends are split into 3 12hr shifts (Saturday day, Saturday night, Sunday day)
Night float system (6 nights on, Saturday off, then another 6 nights on)
PGY 2/3
24 hour Saturday shifts when on call eligible rotations (inpatient, some electives)
Night float system (6 nights on, Saturday off, then another 6 nights on)
Our Jeopardy system is no questions asked and there is no payback if you need to take time off
We operate with a pool of 4-5 residents covering Jeopardy at any time
J1- you are called first if eligible within work hour restrictions. This resident is not on elective at this time and is solely responsible for covering shifts
J2-5- rotate through this pool in sequential order if J1 is taken or ineligible to work. These residents are on elective while covering the Jeopardy pool
You do not cover the Jeopardy system during intern year
